How to Check Your WAEC Result Online

Everything you need to view your WASSCE grades on the official WAECDIRECT portal, and how to avoid fake PIN sellers.

Step by step

1. Get your details readyHave your WAEC examination number, the exam year (for example 2026), the exam type (such as WASSCE for School Candidates), and a Result Checker PIN with its Serial Number in front of you.
2. Open the official portalIn a browser, go to https://www.waecdirect.org. Check the address carefully; only this domain is the genuine WAEC result checker.
3. Enter your exam number and yearType your examination number exactly as printed, then select the correct examination year from the dropdown.
4. Select the exam typeChoose the examination type that matches your sitting. Picking the wrong type is a common reason a result fails to display.
5. Enter your PIN and Serial NumberType the Result Checker PIN and the Serial Number from your card or e-PIN, then click Submit.
6. View and save your resultYour grades appear on screen. Take a screenshot or print the page for your records, remembering the PIN allows up to five views in total.

What you need first

Checking your West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result online is straightforward once you have the right pieces. You need your WAEC examination number, the year you sat the exam, the correct examination type, and a valid Result Checker PIN paired with its Serial Number. School candidates usually find the PIN and Serial printed on the back of the Candidate Identity Card their school issued during the exam. If you do not have that, you buy a WAEC Result Checker e-PIN from WAEC’s official channels, or use the official retrieval service to recover a Serial and PIN.

How the PIN works, and its limits

A Result Checker PIN is not unlimited. One PIN lets you view a single candidate’s result up to five times in total, so you can share those checks between yourself, a parent and a school if needed. Once the five checks are used, the PIN stops working and you must buy another. A PIN is also tied to one candidate; you cannot use the same PIN to check someone else’s result. Plan your checks so you do not waste views by reloading the page unnecessarily.

Buying a PIN safely

This is where people lose money. WAEC sells genuine Result Checker PINs through its own portal and approved outlets. PINs advertised very cheaply on social media or by street sellers are frequently fake, or already exhausted, and will simply fail on the portal after you have paid. If a seller asks for your bank details, card PIN or WAECDIRECT login to “help” you check, walk away; that is a fraud pattern, not customer service. When in doubt, buy directly from the official source and check the result yourself.

When the result will not show

If the portal rejects your details, work through the usual causes calmly: an incorrect examination type, a mistyped examination number, the wrong exam year, or a PIN that has already reached its five-check limit. Correct each in turn. If your details are all correct and the portal still shows nothing, results for your sitting may not have been released yet, so wait and try later rather than buying more PINs. Always confirm you are on waecdirect.org and not a look-alike clone.
