How We Verify Our Guides
Our whole method in the open: official sources only, a documented verification process, honest disclosure of AI-assisted research, and a clear corrections workflow.
Official sources only
Every SabiGuide guide is built from primary, official sources — never from rumour, forum posts or other blogs. When we describe a process, a fee or a requirement, it must be traceable to the body that actually runs the service. The portals we rely on include:
- NIMC / NIN — nimc.gov.ng
- JAMB — jamb.gov.ng
- WAEC results — waecdirect.org
- NECO — neco.gov.ng
- NYSC — portal.nysc.org.ng
- Nigeria Immigration Service (passport) — immigration.gov.ng
- Banking, BVN and payments — the CBN (cbn.gov.ng) and NIBSS (nibss-plc.com.ng)
If a claim cannot be traced to a source like these, it does not go into a guide.
Our step-by-step verification process
Each guide goes through the same checks before publication:
- Locate the primary source. We find the relevant page, notice or FAQ on the official portal.
- Walk the process. Where possible we follow the actual steps a user would take, noting screens, fields and decision points.
- Cross-check details. Fees, deadlines, eligibility and USSD codes are checked against the official portal, and against a second official notice where one exists.
- Editorial review. A second team member reads the guide against the sources for accuracy, clarity and safety.
- Safety pass. We confirm the guide sends readers only to official portals and includes the relevant scam warnings.
How we date and update guides
Nigerian public services change frequently, so every guide carries a visible date. We review guides on a rolling schedule and whenever we learn of a change — a new portal design, a revised fee, a new requirement or a discontinued step. When we make a substantive change, we update the date so you always know how current the information is.
How we handle fees, USSD codes and figures
We present fees and USSD codes as accurate “as of” a given year and always tell you to confirm the current amount on the official portal before you pay anything. Figures in Nigeria move, and no blog can promise a fee will be the same next month. Treat every amount here as a guide, and let the official portal be the final word.
AI-assisted research, human editorial review
We believe in being honest about our process. We use AI tools to help with early research — gathering official material, drafting outlines and summarising long notices. Every guide is then checked, edited and approved by a human editor against the original official sources. AI never has the final say: no guide is published purely on the strength of an AI draft, and any figure, fee or step is verified by a person against the primary source. This human-in-the-loop review is a core part of our accuracy commitment.
What we exclude
If we cannot verify something from an official source, we leave it out. We would rather a guide be silent on a point than publish an unverified figure or an unconfirmed “shortcut”. We do not publish claimed “insider” methods, ways to bypass official processes, or anything that would put a reader at legal or financial risk.
Safety and scam warnings
Because scammers exploit exactly these processes, our guides carry clear safety notes. The core rule never changes: no genuine agency, bank or examination body will ask for your BVN, NIN, OTP, password or card PIN, and neither will SabiGuide. We will only ever send you to the official portals listed above.
Corrections workflow
Found an error, or noticed something has changed? Email [email protected] or use our contact page. We log every report, check it against the official source, and correct verified errors promptly — updating the guide’s date so the change is visible. You can read more about who we are on our About page. This site provides general information only and is not legal, financial or professional advice.
