How to Check Your JAMB Result

Two official ways to see your JAMB UTME scores: a quick SMS, or the eFacility portal with your registration email and password.

Step by step

1. Use your registered phone linePick up the SIM you used when creating your JAMB profile, and make sure it has a little airtime (a small charge, around N50 to N100, is deducted; confirm the current amount).
2. Compose the SMSOpen your messaging app and type UTMERESULT as a single word in capital letters, with no spaces and nothing else in the message.
3. Send it to the JAMB shortcodeSend the message to 55019 or 66019. Wait a few minutes for JAMB to reply with your name, subject scores and total aggregate.
4. Or log in to eFacility insteadIn a browser go to https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng and sign in with the email address and password you used during registration; use Forgot Password if you cannot remember it.
5. Open your result on the dashboardOn your eFacility dashboard, open the UTME result or Print Result Slip area to see your scores. Confirm your name and exam year match before trusting the figures.

Before you start

You can see your JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result the moment JAMB releases scores for your exam. There is no need to pay an agent or visit a cyber cafe: both official methods are things you can do yourself from your own phone. What you need depends on the method. For the SMS route you need the exact SIM you registered with and a little airtime. For the online route you need the email address and password attached to your JAMB profile.

SMS versus the portal: which to use

The SMS method is the fastest for a quick look. It sends back your name, four subject scores and total aggregate within minutes, and it works on MTN, Glo, Airtel and T2 lines. Its one strict rule is that the message must come from the same phone number you used to create your JAMB profile; a text from any other line will not return your result. The eFacility portal is the better choice when you have changed your SIM, when you want a clean on-screen copy, or when you are about to move straight on to printing your slip. Both show the same official scores, so use whichever is convenient.

Common problems and fixes

If the SMS does not return, check four things in order: that you are texting from the registered line, that the SIM has airtime, that you typed UTMERESULT as one word in capitals, and that results for your exam have actually been released. If you have simply lost your registration number, text RETRIEVE to 55019 from your registered line to get it back. For portal trouble, a forgotten password is the usual culprit, and the Forgot Password link resets it to your registered email. Slow or misbehaving pages are often a browser issue, so try a different browser or clear your cache.

What the result is, and is not

Treat the SMS as a notification, not a certificate. Schools conducting Post-UTME screening will ask for the official result slip that carries your photograph, so once you have confirmed your scores your next move is usually to print your JAMB result slip. Staying safe

Every year candidates lose money to fake result pages and “result upgrade” scammers. JAMB never asks you to change scores, and there is no legitimate way to “upgrade” a UTME result. If a website, link or WhatsApp message promises exactly that, it is a fraud; learning to recognise fake JAMB and WAEC result sites will save you both money and stress. Only ever type your login details into efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
